Estonian University of Life Sciences is the only university in Estonia whose priorities in academic and research activities provide the sustainable development of natural resources necessary for the existence of Man as well as the preservation of heritage and habitat.
The academic structure is composed of research and development institutes or institutions, centres and other structural units. Currently, teaching and research is carried out in five institutes.
The Open University of the University (hereinafter Open University) is a unit of the support structure belonging to the area of responsibility of the Vice-Rector of Studies, and has the following aim:
-to provide continuing education based on the principles of lifelong learning;
-to provide research and development based services that are necessary for the society;
-to serve as an intermediary between the University and alumni, incl. employers.
The area of activity of Open University is the provision of continuing education to the society at the level of higher education in cooperation with the units of the academic structure of the University, with the aim of enhancing the knowledge, skills and competence of continuing education students according to the needs of the continuing education students, the society and the labour market.
